Book December early
The honest advice is a month out if you want the whole room, a fortnight for a smaller party, and sooner than either for the back half of December. Regular reservations fill the book as the month goes on, and once they are on it we can’t clear them to make space for a party. A December date held in October is a December date.
Weeknights early in the month are the easiest to get, and often the better party: the room is yours without the rest of the city trying to get into it.
Standing, seated, or all of it
A standing reception suits an office party — 50 to 55 people, hors d’oeuvres passed through the room, everyone free to move. A seated dinner suits a team that actually wants to sit and talk, up to 32 at the table with 10 more at the bar. A full buyout gives you the dining room and the bar together, which is the version most companies end up wanting.
If the office would rather not travel, we come to you instead. Off-site catering runs to homes and offices across New York, 15 to 50 people, with three days’ notice — the same kitchen, packed to travel.
Your name on the menu
Menus are printed with your company or the occasion in script across the top, at no charge. It is a better table decoration than anything we could buy in, and people take them home.
Punch, properly
The Munkey House Paanch is our communal punch, poured by the glass or in a bowl that serves twelve, and it is the obvious thing to put in the middle of a holiday party. ‘Punch’ comes from paanch, the Hindi word for five, after the five ingredients in the original.
If you would rather fix the drinks bill in advance, most parties add one signature cocktail, beer or glass of wine per guest. Pricing on request, and the rest of the bar list stays open behind it.
Every night from 10 pm we serve a hot meal to anyone in need. A sponsored meal is $7, and a December party that wants to mark the season beyond its own table can add a round of them to the booking.
